Poems About Self Love

We’re all of course very familiar with poems about love. But how often do you read poems about self love? Not nearly as often. But they are still so powerful, and so important to read. We featured some poets that you might expect to see when talking poetry about self love: Mary Oliver, Maya Angelou, Walt Whitman. But also some surprises, like Ted Kooser!

Self love is important. Afterall, how could we love others if we don’t even love ourselves? So, in a way reading these types of poems is important. Falling in Love Poems

Falling in Love Poems obviously fall under the umbrella of love poems. But they are more focused on the feeling of falling in love, the act of it, the moment something changes and you go head over heels over someone or something. Why Falling in Love Poems?

I love this genre, and reading or writing falling in love poems. The way people see the world as they’re falling in love is so beautiful. What’s great about this genre is that each poem is so unique to the author. We all fall in love, some of us just do it a little differently than others.

Irish Poems

Irish Poems

Irish poems hold a significant place in history. The Irish poets are known for their ability to capture the essence of Ireland in their work. From W.B. Yeats to Frank Ormsby, they blend themes of history, landscape, and culture into their work. Their poetry reflects the country’s turbulent past, its lush scenery, and the humor of its people.

Why Irish Poems?

No poet better encapsulates Irish poems like W.B. Yeats. He is perhaps the most influential Irish poet ever. I have included four of his poems in this list, and I wish I had room for more. He writes Irish poems that will stick with you. When You Are Old is one of the single best Irish poems ever, in my opinion.
